This advice was handed down during a press briefing on Friday by Coach Victor Uzoho, a youth football coach and agent based in Finland, a country few miles to Russia where the 2018 FIFA World Cup will take place.
He stated that with the array of players in the Super Eagles,Nigeria can win the world Cup. He said “qualifying for the world cup is a great opportunity for players to market themselves.
Any team can win and this includes Nigeria if the technical and tactical aspects are looked into. Also there is the need to have a team ideology. An ideology is psychology of knowing how your opponent plays so you can counter and defeat them. Players do not come from the same background.
Some ply their football in Europe, Asia and other parts of the world therefore their styles of play will be different. But if there is a team ideology they can relate with they will succeed”. Speaking further, Coach Uzoho urged the government to develop grassroot football.
“There is need to develop our grassroot and youth football. Raw talent abound on the streets, in the schools and universities. It is therefore necessary to get those with the talent and keep them playing.
There is nothing wrong if a local government sponsors football teams to play so the best can be selected. The players should be made to go through the stages of football. Also, motivation is important in boosting the moral of the player.
These players know how much FIFA gives the FA for their winning bonus, they know what they should get as draw bonus and what they should get as compensation therefore when they do not get the money, they will not perform well in the competition”.
