Football is the most lucrative sport and can be of so much fun but comes with loads of disaster that can end the life of the Athlete while working 
However, the Sport has witnessed the other side of the game as some of athletes in the game died in harness while playing the beautiful game called soccer for country or their club
We take a look at some few footballers who died in active service.

1. EMMANUEL ORTEGA
Argentine Football Player – Died on the 14th May 2015
He dies of head injury suffered during a match when an Opponent jabbed him off the ball. He hits his head on a Concrete beside the Field and died instantly.

2. ENDURANCE IDAHOR
Nigerian Football Player – Died on the 3rd of June 2010
Idahor collapsed during a league game and later died on his way to the Hospital.

3. HOCINE GACEMI
Algerian Football Player – Died on the 21st of March 2000
Gacemi managed to score a Goal from his header but could not avoid a clash with USM Annaba defender Yacine Slatni.
Gacemi landed on his head and lost consciousness.

4. AKLI FAIRUZ
Indonesian Football Player – Died on the 16th of May 2014
Akli Fairuz has died days after suffering a horror tackle during a match.

5. PIERMARIO MOROSINI
Italian Football Player – Died on the 14th of April 2012
On the 14th of 2012, during a match between Pescara and Livorno, Morosini suffered a fatal cardiac arrest on the pitch and he dided immediately.

6. SERHIY PERKHUN
Ukrainian Football Player – Died on the 28th of August 2001
He collided head-to-head with Anzhi forward Budun Budunov who also sustained serious head trauma during the collision.
He died nine days later from a brain hemorrhage.

7. MARC VIVIEN FOE
Cameroonian Football Player – Died on the 26th of June 2003
Collapsed while playing. The cause of his death was hypertrophic cardiomyopathy.

8. CRISTIANO JUNIOR
Brazilian Football Player – Died on the 12th of May 2004
Junior collided with Mohun Bagan goalkeeper Subrata Pal, in the 78th minute of the Federation Cup finals.
Junior died instantly and other team players cried sadly.

9. HRVOJE CUSTIC
Croatian Football Player – Died on the 4th of March 2008
He collided with a concrete wall during a game against Cibalia and died in hospital 5 days later of severe head injuries.
The other who pushed him wept badly, the game took Custic life. The match was canceled immediately.

Indians Football Player – Died on the 19th of October 2014
Peter Biaksangzuala dies from Spine injury after doing Somersault celebration to celebrate his Goal.

Scottish Football Player – Died on the 29th of December 2007
He died after suffering Cardiac Arrest while on the pitch playing for Motherwell against Dundee United on the 29th of December.

Spanish Football Player – Died on the 28th of August 2007
He died on the 28 August 2007 affected with Arrhymogenic right venticular dysplasia, 3 days after suffering a series of Cardiac arrest during a La Liga game against Gatafe.

Spanish Football Player – Died on the 4th of October 2012
The cause of his death was a heart failure. He died instantly as Team management tries to rescue him.
The Team missed Chinonso as he was said to be the highest goal scorer during that season.

14. PAULO SERGIO OLIVEIRA DA SILVA
Brazillian Football Player – Died on the 27th of October 2004
He suffered a fatal Cardiac arrest 60 minutes into the Match and died instantly.

He died of a Cardiac arrest during a match between Vitoria de Guimaraes and his team Benfica in Guimaraes.
