Prof. Adebiyi Daramola, the embattled Vice Chancellor of the crisis-ridden Federal University of Technology Akure (FUTA), in Ondo State, was this morning arrested after he hit a member of staff of the institution with his car. Abiodun Ademola Atunbi of the Non-Academic Staff Union (NASU) member of FUTA was allegedly crushed to the point of death, and was rushed to the hospital.

SaharaReporters learned that the incident happened on the main campus at Oba’nla in Akure at about 8:30a.m. as some members of staff of the institution were gathering at a meeting point for prayers.

Our correspondent gathered that the victim is the younger brother of a renowned journalist, Dele Atunbi of the Nigeria Television Authority (NTA).

Police Officers from the Okuta Elerinla Police Station arrested Prof. Daramola shortly after the incident.

Several aggrieved members of staff of the school converged at the Senate building following the incident.

Many of them trooped out to the street and made a bonfire as a sign of protest against the Vice-Chancellor’s wickedness, described by one of them as a deliberate action taken out of anger to kill Mr. Atunbi, who was one of the activists agitating for his removal from office.

One source told SaharaReporters that Mr. Atunbi was on his way to the prayer ground but was attacked by Professor Daramola with his vehicle immediately the Vice Chancellor saw him.

“The Vice Chancellor deliberately did it with the aim of killing Mr. Atunbi who he sees as a threat and whistleblower to his corrupt administration in the school,” he said.

“This is a man that has been threatening to kill all of us who are agitating for his removal from the office following the discovery of his corrupt practices with the school treasury.”

Comrade Durojaiye, the FUTA Chairman of Senior Staff Association of Nigeria Universities (SSANU) also confirmed the incident to SaharaReporters in a telephone interview.

“The incident happened around the bank road of the main campus, and I think it was deliberate because the Vice Chancellor has always threatened to deal with some of us who are against the continuity of his administration in the school.

“The victim, Mr. Atunbi, is a member of NASU and is our time-keeper during this period of protest and he rings the bells early in the morning to create awareness for members of staff to converge at our meeting point for prayers.

“Considering the incident that happened this morning, the aim of the VC is to kill us one after the other and keep us quiet but we have uncovered his plan, and he shall fail,” Mr. Durojaiye said.

…9000 ghost pensioners dropped …220,000 pensioners nationwide captured on database …450 Biafra war-affected policemen, 15 Customs officers cleared for pay …N/E, S/S capturing for 2017 Soni Daniel, Northern Region Editor
The Pension Transitional Arrangement Directorate, PTAD, has adopted a tough policy to sanitize the administration of pension in the country and give a new lease of life to pensioners nationwide. To this end, the new leadership of PTAD led by Sharon Ikeazor, has opted to make the use of Biometric Verification Number, BVN, an indispensable instrument in the processing and payment of pensions to retirees nationwide. Ikeazor, who is the Executive Secretary of PTAD, told media heads in Abuja at the weekend that BVN had been adopted as one of the compulsory requirements that retirees must possess so as to be captured in its database and be paid their entitlements. Ikeazor disclosed that no fewer than 9000 questionable names had been dropped from the PTAD database as a result of the absence of BVN during verification and that more of such doubtful names would be removed as the agency moves to consolidate its database for efficient pension management in Nigeria.

File Photo: Aged Pensioners waiting for their entitlement

Ikeazor disclosed that from the verification so far carried out by PTAD, a total of 220,000 pensioners had been established on the database as efforts were being made to extend the exercise to the North East, South South and other parts of the country by next year. She said the intention was to build a credible and reliable database through which pensioners could be paid their entitlements as and when due. She said that in a bid to pave the way for a transparent administration of pension, all officials suspected to have had a hand in questionable deals in the past had been handed over to the EFCC for trial while others had been redeployed on the orders of the Head of Service. “My mission in PTAD is to remove the suffering which pensioners have been exposed to over the years and give back their dignity by protecting their funds, paying them promptly and serving them with empathy and compassion. “I’m taking necessary actions to clear the database which I know is not very tidy and put in place a system of pension administration that will give hope to the pensioners nationwide. “We also need competent and compassionate personnel to be able to give succor to pensioners in Nigeria. My mission is to restore the dignity to pensioners while I also keep my hard earned integrity intact at the en dog my assignment as the Executive Secretary of PTAD. “We are also working hard to increase the number of pension offices nationwide to reduce logistics problems of pensioners and we are also designing a programme to go to where some very vulnerable pensioners are, to capture them into our database. She also pro used to recover all assets of the agency being utilized by other organizations nationwide. “We will recover all the assets belonging to PTAD in all locations,” she said. According to her, pensioners must be given priority because they have fought for Nigeria. She also announced that 450 Biafra war affected policemen and 15 customs officers who are still alive must be paid their pensions, having been captured in the database already.

My husband compared me to goats, wife tells court
November 28, 2016

A woman, Aderonke Ojediran, on Monday, approached a Grade C Customary Court, Agodi-Ibadan in Oyo State, to seek for dissolution of her five-year-old marriage with Oyeleke Ojediran, for allegedly comparing her with goats.

Ojediran also complained that she was seeking for divorce because Oyeleke had refused to pay her bride pride and had been threatening her life.

Another reason for the divorce, the plaintiff said, was the lack of care for the only child of the union.

She told the court that “ I packed out of my husband’s residence in 2013 when I could no longer cope with the behaviour of my husband.”
According to her, sometime in 2013, her husband brought goats inside their sitting room and compared her with the animals, saying she is the same as the goats.

“He used to beat me and had been careless about my welfare and that of the innocent child we have. In fact, I am tired of the marriage and I don’t want to die young.

The woman further prayed the court to allow her to take custody of the child for proper care.

The defendant, who admitted that he brought two goats inside the sitting room, explained that he compared his wife with the goats because of her bad attitude.

He also agreed with the divorce suit, alleging also that the plaintiff’s troublesome way of life was responsible for his hypertensive health condition.

The President of the court, Chief Mukaila Balogun, then declared the marriage dissolved.

He said “having listened to the evidence of both parties, it is clear that there is no more love between the couple and they should go their separate ways as they stand unmarried.

“Custody of the only child of the union is to remain with the plaintiff and the sum of N3,000 is awarded against the defendant on monthly basis, being money for the upkeep of the child.”

Entertainers can get Nigeria out of recession – Lai Mohammed

Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed

The Minister of Information and Culture, Mr Lai Mohammed says that the creative industry has the potential of getting the country out of the present economic recession.

Mohammed said this on the sidelines of the premier of the movie; “My Name is Kadi” , produced by Aisha Mohammed, which starred Blossom Chukwujekwu, Kenneth Okolie, Tina Mba, Slyvya Oluchy, Jide Bolarinwa and Josephine Ramos.

According to the minister, some countries’ of the world have improved their Gross Domestic Product (GDP) from the creative industry.

“There are many countries in the world that have made it from the creative industry; for instance in California, the GDP is largely dependent on the creative industry, which is like the fifth in the world.

“If we put our efforts to handle piracy and ensure quality, Nigeria can as well generate huge revenue from the sector,” Mohammed said.

He commended the efforts of practitioners in the creative industry, adding that they were ahead of the government, and had projected the country’s entertainment industry to limelight.

Mohammed, however, said the government would assist practitioners in the industry to ensure they derived economic benefits from their creative exploits and the country at large.

“The good news is that the artists, musicians, filmmakers have gone so far ahead of government; government needs to catch up with them.

“Few years ago, there was a 2020 vision committee and the idea was that Nigeria by the year 2020 should be one of the 20 foremost film producing countries in the world.

“That was in 2012 and by then we were already number three in the world and this is largely built by the efforts, the passion of the practitioners in the creative industry.

“The government is reaching out to them,” he said.

The minister said there was the need for the guilds and associations in the creative industry to unite so as to gain full support of the government.

According to him, the government can only support organised groups.

“It is not like everything is okay with the creative industry because in recent times we observed that they seem largely unstructured and we want to assist them to get themselves to be better organised.

“Now, we have about 168 guilds and association of film makers within the industry alone.

“There is no way the government can deal with 168 groups, so that is why we are assisting them get through the Motion Picture Practitioners Council of Nigeria (MOPICON) bill.

"Tears"
(feat. Louisa Johnson)

I tried hard to make you want me
But we're not supposed to be
And the truth will always haunt me
Even though it set me free
And my tears flow like the ocean
As they floated in the breeze
They were falling in slow motion
And they brought me to my knees

You're haunting me, taunting me all in my brain
Turn off the light and now all that remains
Fills me with doubt
And I'm shouting your name out loud
Why do you wanna put me through the pain?
I get the feeling I'll never escape
I can't hide away from the shame of you

Tears on the ground, tears on my pillow
You won't bring me down
And I'll get over you
These tears will get me through
And I'll get over you

I'll get over you
I'll get over you
I'll get over you
I'll get over you

When did you lose your emotion?
When did you become so cruel?
And if you want to cut me open
Says a thousand words 'bout you
And in time I know you'll leave me
Like a distant memory
I know love can be so easy
If I start by loving me, oh

You're haunting me, taunting me all in my brain
Turn off the light and now all that remains
Fills me with doubt
And I'm shouting your name out loud
Why do you wanna put me through the pain?
I get the feeling I'll never escape
I can't hide away from the shame of you

Tears on the ground, tears on my pillow
You won't bring me down
And I'll get over you

I'll get over you
I'll get over you
I'll get over you

Tears on the ground, rain at my window
The pain washes out
And I'll get over you
These tears will get me through
And I'll get over you

I'll get over you
I'll get over you
I'll get over you
I don't need you to call me tonight
I'll get over you
I don't need you to see if I'm alright
I'll get over you
You left me, so leave me, I'm fine
I'll be here getting on with my life

Tears on the ground, tears on my pillow
You won't bring me down
I'll get over you
Rain in the window, the pain washes out
I'll get over you

Tears on the ground, rain at my window
The pain washes out
And I'll get over you
Oh, yeah, I'll get over you

I'll get over...
I'll get over you

An 18-year-old undergraduate of the Abia State University, Divine Ibeneme, has confessed that he acquired a locally made gun to protect himself from armed robbers and cultists on campus.

Ibeneme, who was paraded by the Commissioner of Police in Abia State, Mr. Adeleye Oyebade, in Umuahia, said he was under threat by some group of cultists who once robbed him of his phones and money for allegedly wearing a bangle that belonged to their cult group.

He added that he opted to acquire a gun to prevent a repeat of such intimidation.

Ibeneme said, “Due to the rampant armed robbery attacks and killing of students in my school, I decided to purchase a gun for self defence because when the bad boys approach you, they will tell you not to talk and if you do, they will try to kill or behead you.

“That was why I wanted to work for my safety. I bought the gun for N7, 000 in Rivers State. But unfortunately for me, as I was travelling back to school after purchasing the gun, my bag was searched by police officers at a check point along the road, they found the gun in my bag and arrested me.”

The suspect, who hails from Umulolo in Imo State, denied being a member of any secret cult group.

While insisting that he had no intention of hurting any student with the gun, Ibeneme maintained that he wanted to use it to protect himself from cultists.

“I just got the gun so that if they (cultists) harass me again, I will show them what I have for them so that they will leave me alone. I haven’t killed before and I don’t have any intention of killing,” he said.

However, the commissioner of police, said that the Safer Highway Patrol Team Abia State 011 had arrested Ibenem during a stop and search operation along Ofeme axis of the Enugu/Port Harcourt Expressway.

He said, “The suspect was found with a locally made double-barrelled gun and one live cartridge. He could not give a satisfactory account of the firearm and ammunition. He is helping the police in its investigation and will soon be arraigned in court.”

Teenager nabbed for beheading mother, daughter in Rivers

19:31 Add Comment

Friday Amobi, Port Harcourt

Operatives of the Rivers State Police Command have apprehended a teenager identified as Daddy who allegedly beheaded a mother and her daughter in Ibaa community in Emohua Local Government Area of Rivers State.

The suspect was arrested on Thursday by angry youths of Ibaa who emptied into the bushes in the area in search of the suspected killer.

The 18-year-old boy had last Friday allegedly killed Mrs. Cecilia Wojile and her first daughter, Miss Blessing Wojile.

The suspect had used a machete to chop off his victims’ heads around 6am, while the duo who sold cooked food, were preparing for market.

A source in the community who identified himself as Kenneth told Southern City News on Friday that the suspect had on several occasions broken into the home of Wojiles to steal.

Kenneth disclosed that when Mrs. Wojile arrested Daddy for the act, the suspect vowed to kill her.

When contacted over the development, the victim’s eldest son, Mr. Isaiah Wojile, said the suspect met her mother while she was in the room and killed her.

Isaiah said, “The development is painful. I never imagined that human beings could be this wicked. Daddy killed my mother and my own sister as if they are goats.

“The only thing I demand is justice. He who takes the life of another, his will be taken as well. I want the police to investigate the matter, fetch out the culprit and make him to face the wrath of the law.”

Based on alleged delay in the investigation, Isaiah had transferred the matter to the State Criminal Investigation Department, noting that the Rumuji Police Station that was handling the matter was not serious.

Isaiah became worried that five days after the incident, the culprit had yet to be apprehended by the police.

He also regretted that the suspect, who was apprehended by the community youths the same day of the incident, escaped from the hands of security men deployed in the area.

He, however, called on the state police command to speedily intervene to ensure justice was done in the matter.

Meanwhile, a senior police officer at the State Criminal Investigation Department confirmed that they had received a case file established by Rumuji Divisional headquarters and promised to swing into action to arrest and prosecute the alleged killer of the mother and daughter.

Also speaking, the command’s spokesperson, Mr. Nnamdi Omoni, said the command was aware of the incident and promised full scale investigation to unravel the circumstance behind the murder.

It was learnt that some youths in Ibaa mobilised to capture the suspect in his hideout within the community.

A source said that when the youths apprehended Daddy, the security men in the area whom he earlier escaped from, shot him in the leg before sending him to the Rumuji Divisional Police headquarters.

How Seun Egbegbe Stole iPhones at Computer Village – Eyewitnesses

The story of Yourba film maker, Seun Egbegbe, who was accused of stealing nine iPhones at Computer Village, Ikeja, Lagos earlier this week was received with shock by many.
According to the owner of the shop, Kaaltech Innovations, where the incident occured and some eyetwitnesses who spoke with The Punch, Egbegbe had no intention of paying for the phones.

The shop owner Kolawole Aleshinloye in a telephone interview said the incident happened in his absence, but the matter was with the police.

“At this point, I am out of town and I told them to lock my store. I came around yesterday and witnessed everything. I put down my statement at Area F Police Command. The case is with the police. I told them to lock my store because my boy was wounded and he is currently at the hospital. My secretary has gone to the police station upon invitation. Anything you want, just go to Area F police command and ask for the IPO in charge.

“My boy was injured because he was being dragged by the car when they were trying to get away with the phones. The guy has written his statement and there is a formal petition from the Nigerian Police. The guy (Egbegbe) had never come to buy anything from my store before now and I don’t know him. I did not see him because I was not at the office but my staff attended to him. They were the one that took him to the police station. I just showed up at the police station but I am not an eye witness.
“I have never been involved in a robbery or theft case and sincerely I don’t know what to do and that is why the police is handling everything. I don’t have the time to handle this type of case. As I speak with you, I am about travelling out of the country. I missed my flight yesterday because of this issue. I was on my way to the airport when this incident happened so if there is anything I need to do, my lawyers would handle the matter. We have an association in Computer Village; Computer and Allied Products Dealers Association of Nigeria; the members of the association were the ones that took him to the police station.”
A shop who identified himself as Onyeka, said he witnessed what happened since his shop is directly opposite the scene of the incident.
“I was around when it happened and the man cannot deny it. It happened and the man stole the phones. If it did not happen, why did he have a bloodied mouth? Those guys outside were the ones that beat him but they did not beat him up to stupor, they just ‘touched him small’. At about 11am, the man came to the store claiming that he wanted to buy some phones. He had spoken to the sales girl but all of a sudden, he told them to pack the phones for him and that he would give them the money in his vehicle. As he got to his vehicle, he put the phones in the car and instead of him to bring out the money; he entered the vehicle which was already in motion. He was not alone in the car.
“The sales rep had to raise the alarm that the man was leaving with the goods. An SUV that was in front of his car had to stop to ensure that he did not run away with the phones and that was how they caught up with him and those with him in the vehicle. If the SUV was not there, they would have absconded with the phones because the road was very free. He was already inside the car and the car was in motion. I think there were about two other people in the car with him. The vehicle was in motion and ready to zoom off, yet he claimed that he wanted to give someone money. The police came around and he was handed over to them,” Onyeka said.
Another shop owner who spoke on the condition of anonymity corroborated Onyeka’s claims.
“This guy is a liar. So is he saying he had over N2m in his car and he was going to bring the money from the car? Why didn’t he bring the money when he entered the shop or even tell the shop attendant to hold the phones while he got the money? The guy really wanted to outsmart the shop attendant but his luck ran out. That way why we beat him silly,” he said.
Egbegbe has since been remanded in Kirikiri prison following his appearance before Justice A.J. Atunwa of the Chief Magistrates’ Court, Ikeja.

At least one recent victim is actor Tony Umez who was reminded of his exploits in featuring in highly sexually explicit movies when he flaunted his beautiful daughter on Instagram days ago.

Erotic Saturday: How to Give Her the Most Mind-blowing Orgasm of Her Life Tonight

07:55 Add Comment
One of the things you owe your partner is to give her a good time in bed. Not just a good time, a mind blowing and tear jerking time when they hit the sack with you.

You can never have too much of a good thing in our opinion. So we've created a guide that will ensure the lady in your life even more pleasure in the bedroom.

From the best sex positions to unexplored erogenous zones, with the help of award-winning erotic journalist and sexpert, Alix Fox, we let you in on some mind-blowing tricks.

1. Girl on Top
This position allows her to have the most control of her orgasm. She can move as fast or slow as she likes and the depth of the motion is also up to her.

It allows easy access to her clitoris, which means you can help her reach orgasm with your fingers as well.

2. Spooning
This position concentrates on stimulation of the front of the vagina, which is where the most nerves are located –meaning it's more pleasurable for her.

3. Doggy Style
It's a great position for the woman because it allows her to have optimal control. This is also a good position for stimulating the G-spot, while still allowing access to her clitoris.

4. Scissors
This move great for clitoral stimulation and because your bodies aren't against each other there is plenty of room for you to reach down and rub her clitoris.

5. Missionary
It might seem boring, but it's the nation's second favourite sex position with 21% of people polled saying it was their preferred move.

And according to sex experts, women get the most pleasure out of the standard position than any other.

HOW TO GIVE HER A MULTIPLE ORGASM

One orgasm is cause for celebration, but a multiple is sexual ecstasy.

Here's how to give her the famous repetitive waves of pleasure.

1. Build up the tension
She might feel like she wants to orgasm as soon as possible, but make her wait. Bringing her to the brink repeatedly will cause her arousal to spread throughout her whole body.

When you do eventually let her climax it will be bigger and better than ever. But don't stop here. After she has orgasmed continue to touch her gently until it builds up to a second or third explosion.

“You want her to retain her feelings of overall arousal when her body starts to relax after having the first orgasm,” says Amie Harwick, author of The New S*x Bible for Women.

However, be gentle as she will still be very sensitive after the first orgasm.

2. Test out different erogenous zones
Most women find it easiest to orgasm by massaging the clitoris, but if it's still sensitive from round one it might be best to know some other areas to focus on.

You could try aiming for the famous G-spot. Doing it Doggy Style is one of the best sex positions for women and will help her reach the big-O quicker.

"Stimulating the G-spot can produce a climax that feels very different from an orgasm achieved by massaging the clitoris – and it can go on longer, too, delivering wave after wave of pleasure," said award-winning erotic journalist and sexpert Alix Fox.

“If you want to explore G-spot sensations for yourself, first you’ll need to know where this particular ‘moan zone’ is.

The G-spot is about 1-2 inches inside the vaginal opening, on the front of the vaginal wall – the bit closest to your bellybutton.

3. Try a new s*x toy

Surprising her with a new sex toy can really ramp things up in the bedroom and could increase her chances of having a multiple.

Ann Summers has recently released a new range of rechargeable, fully-waterproof toys called Moregasm, and according to Alix, they work in a way that can give women a brand new type of pleasure.

She said: “Moregasm toys harness the power of low frequency vibrations. These pass more easily and more deeply into the body, reaching areas and stimulating places and nerve endings that standard toys don’t usually hit.

"The result? Huge potential for ladies to experience longer, stronger, and new types of orgasm – even if sex toys haven’t worked for them in the past.”

Good Pikin for House, Bad Pikin for School

07:45 Add Comment

For the record, Pikin means "Child." Straight from the Nigerian Pidgin English dictionary ... if such a thing exists.

You know it is possible for a child from a good background, with "proper home training" like we say, to stray. And the place where the child manifests that waywardness is in school.

Of course, when a child misbehaves (and it doesn't even matter whether it's a child in primary or secondary school), everybody automatically starts pointing fingers. If a young adult is misbehaving at the university level, then s/he is an "agbaya."* There's no other word for it because we assume that at that level you're mature enough to tell right from wrong and make the right choices.

But for primary and secondary school students (yes, I left out the nursery school students because at that age, they are expected to be naughty), when the finger pointing starts, the blame ultimately falls on the parents. Yes, peer pressure might be a factor, but parents are still held responsible for their children's actions. That's just the way it works. Transferring the blame to the teachers makes no sense.

Why?

If the teacher observes a student misbehaving in school, the teacher and/or school authorities can discipline the child accordingly. But guess what? They will still have to report this to the parents to "take over" the discipline of the child and take necessary action.

In short, no one can raise your child(ren) for you. Ultimately, parents must take responsibility for their children's actions, while they're still under their roof.

What do you think? Agree or Disagree? Please share your thoughts.

*Agbaya = an adult acting like a child (Yoruba term)

Party suspends Omisore, Kashamu, 10 others

From Clement Adeyi, Osogbo

At a time when there appears to be a glimpse of hope for the stability in the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, following a string of court judgments this week, a fresh crisis that may again bring the party to its knees has broken out in at least two states.

As a result, the Ogun State chapter of the party has announced the suspension of one of its major financiers and at least six other key members. Affected members are Buruji Kashamu, Bayo Dayo, Pegba Otemolu, Semiu Shodipo, Fatai Adeyanju, Segun Seriki, Daisi Akitan, and Bowale Solaja. While the party was announcing the suspension in Abeokuta, the Osun state chapter also simultaneously slammed its own suspension on its major financier, Senator Iyiola Omisore and four other leaders.

Justifying the sack of Mr. Kashamu who is a serving Senator, the party said in statement signed by state chairman and secretary, Sikirulai Ogundele and Olabode Bankole, that the suspension was sequel to the report of a panel constituted in June to investigate allegations of financial improprieties and anti-party activities against the seven members.

The statement said the accused persons refused to honour several invitations by the panel to respond to allegations of misapplication and outright diversion of party funds.

“Based on the preliminary report of the panel however, submitted to the Executive committee of the Peoples Democratic Party, Ogun State Chapter, we found merit in the allegations and hereby adopt the report and findings of the Panel which include recommendation to suspend the above mentioned,” the statement said.

“In the exercise of the powers vested on the State Executive committee in accordance with the Constitution of the Peoples Democratic Party the above name are hereby suspended from the Ogun State Chapter of the PDP with immediate effect; their names have also been forwarded to the national secretariat of the party for necessary further appropriate disciplinary actions.”

In Osun, the party in a statement jointly signed by the state Chairman, Hon Soji Adagunodo and the Secretary, Prince Bola Ajao said the party accused the former Senator of activities capable of further dividing and weakening the party.

According to them, “For engaging in anti party activities and constituting illegal parallel executives in Local governments in Osun state as well as decimating the membership of the PDP in the state, Osun state chapter of the PDP has suspended Senator Iyiola Omisore and four other members of the party.”

The statement was issued after the State Executive Committee meeting of the party held at the Party Secretariat Biket Junction , Osogbo yesterday.

The statement said the state executive committee received recommendation for suspension from their various wards to local governments and senatorial district, to suspend the following party members : Dr Bayo Faforiji, Sen Iyiola Omisore, Rev Bunmi Jenyo, Chief Ojo Williams and Hon Bade Falade.
